Harrah`s Joliet

I was at Harrah`s Joliet last Monday. Spent night on complimentary
with
$100 Van Buren`s plus a coupon for $150 for birthday. Their rooms
are quite
nice. They upgraded me to the VIP floor 10. The only difference I
could
tell between a standard and upgrade was that I had a small
refrigerator and
complimentary newspaper. In my humble opinion Van Buren`s
Restaurant was a
huge disappointment. As was their awful breakfast buffet. I had
expected a
bit more cause their Diamond Lounge food is fantastic.

I have been going to Harrah`s in Joliet for the past couple of
months cause
my usual Majestic Star in Indiana has been really to difficult to
get to
with construction on Skyway and 294. I live near O`Hare and have to
drive
thru or around the city to get to Indiana.

Made diamond in a day in New Orleans June 2004. Went back a few
months
later around September and everything had been downgraded. What a
disappointment.

I have 8000 tier points and trying to get to diamond by the end of
the year.
Was hoping to get to Laughlin before the year ends but that is not
going to
happen.

Anyway, last Monday I really had a long wait to play on one of their
three
50 play machines. I play the single line $. There was a sister and
brother
each on a machine and each playing 29 lines Super Aces. $145 per
play.
Every little while one of them would be getting a W2. They were
pleasant
but it was a bit distracting with personnel all around much of the
time.
Also they were talking to each other a bit on their cell phones. (I
should
have asked who their carrier was cause my cell phone reception sucks
in the
casino)

I was going to go again tomorrow but rethinking cause I don`t want
to drive
over an hour and get shut out like I was last week.

5 X reward points on Mondays.

Happy Birthday!

Harrah's Joliet is maddening especially with the number of people who
seem to play coveted machines at not full coin etc.

We were comped a meal at Van Buren's once. Judging from that
experience, I cannot imagine paying to eat there. We were the only
ones in the place and *all* our food arrived cold. How can they not
be able to bring two people's food to the table hot? They were very,
very nice and seemed extremely happy to have someone in there, so I
feel bad for them. Maybe it's because the food is good in the Diamond
Lounge that they have no customers at VB's and no incentive to make
it better. (I love, love love the Diamond Lounge there. It's the
reason I don't refuse to go to Joliet.)

My favorite place for dinner in Joliet is Amanecer Tapatio on Clinton
St. It's a tiny little storefront where they serve no alcohol and
make only a couple of specials a day, just fabulous food. The moles
and the creamed chicken are to die for. My partner has decided he
doesn't like to go there any more because he's decided it's a bad
neighborhood, but actually I've read that the family who own it are
very concerned to keep it safe and gang-free.
