Hard Rock Rip-Off

My spouse came home tonight and said that when he put his card in a machine at the Hard Rock Hotel in Las Vegas, all his points were gone. He went to the players club and was told that the points had been taken to pay for a recent two-night stay he had arranged through his host in response to an offer in his monthly mailer for two free room nights. He was told at the player's club that when the HRH went to its new players card, the practice of comping rooms was discontinued and players now had to pay with points.

This seems to be like inviting friends to your house for a party, then giving them a bill for the food they ate. Worse, there was no warning from his host when he arranged for the room. And when he went to check out on the TV, charges appeared, but he called the front desk and said he was supposed to be there on a two night comp. He was told that was correct and there would be no charges. Last night the woman at the players club said the hotel personnel were unaware of the new policy.

The host had upgraded my spouse to a suite, which seemed at the time to be a favor, but now we need to find out if he's being charged for the upgrade. We also need to know whether, if the points taken were not enough to pay for the suite, table game comps were taken or points earned in the future will be confiscated. My spouse is planning to call his host tomorrow and I'll let you know what answers he gets.

But from what we know now, the only thing worse than the substance of this policy is how poorly it was implemented. We have taken up the HRH on room offers in our mailers many times before and were never charged points. At miminum, a change of this magnitude should have been clearly disclosed when the room was booked, along with its cost.

The same thing happened to me. Stayed on an offer and when I returned to play a week later, my account had been wiped out. I went to the Players Club and was told this is the new SOP.

This is the case with me. Had 68000 points when checking in, had zero when I left. If I would have known that, I would not have allowed Johnny Smalls to charge meal to room. I complained and got no where.
Problem: How do I know where I stand for Tier levels now? Everytime I go there I get wiped out. I'm going to charge everything with a credit card, however my host said if play if less than value of room, they will take the points.
If local, I wouldn't stay there. Just my opinion.

Hooters did the same with me a year or so ago. I asked for a "comped
room" and was approved, except that points were used. It wasn't a lot
of money, but it was so outrageous that I went to the Gaming
Commission. They ended up giving me my points back. I asked a host
what would have happened if I had used all my points for free play
before checking out and she said she didn't know.

The same thing happened to my husband and I. Got our "comped" rooms via a mailer from our host and it completely wiped out my points at the end of our trip. Nothing was ever said to us up front about it either. If I had known that, I would have used the point balance for free play instead. Grrr.

My guess is the new ownership is torching the old points to get their liability off the balance sheet. I'm guessing this practice will stop when they've got most everybodys old points off their books.
Just a guess.

They did that to me a few years ago so I don't play there anymore.

Ive been telling everyone how much of a cheese ball operation Hard Rock has been becoming over the last few years. Its only going to get worse. Stations, especially GVR is getting really bad now. What do you expect when the benefits get cut and people still keep going back for more. The casinos can and are getting away with it. For gods sake I can get better comps on the strip as a local now.

"Ive been telling everyone how much of a cheese ball operation Hard Rock has been becoming over the last few years. Its only going to get worse. Stations, especially GVR is getting really bad now."

By far, the worse of the stations for comps and decent player treatment is the Red Rock. To give you and example on my last trip , I wagered about $75,000 over 3 days in a combo of optimum, normal like nsud ( careful, they dont advertise it , but hate giving comps to NSUD players ), and slots/dream card. Total loss was $1000 . My offer was 3 free nights. When I went to the slot host desk the night before checkout, I explained - that I was checking out 7AM sharp and nobody would be on duty, could they please take care of my lone measly $65 restaurant charge. They told me ... well, not really - you see you have not played enough to cover the room. Excuse me, I told them , the room is free according to the offer. They told me, its only "quasi-free" , in other words the casino rate on that weekend room for 3 nights is $300, so you have to earn $300 in comps first, before anything like meals is considered !" Why dont you play some more, and call us tomorrow after you check out , say 3pm , and we'll discuss wheter we will grant you the restaurant charge or not. I didn't call back, but I really dont see how they want to attract out of town customers with F grade slot host service like that. This was not the first time, its been progressively going downhill for the last 2 years.

I have just returned from the Hard Rock's 50k Red Carpet Slot Tournament and my host said they no longer take the points. But he also said he would get written up if he gave a comp before the player had used their points.

If someone could doublecheck this I would feel better.

This is what I though was a short-term solution to get the old points from the previous regime off the books.
