Hard Rock Lucky Draws Now a Part of VP History

FWIW Hard Rock still has 25c single-line 9/6 JOB
and 8/5 Bonus Poker in higher denominations.
Mailer received today says on 7/31 and 8/1 earn
250 points on one day and redeem for a $50 Forum
Shops gift certificate. Earn up to $1000 in gift
certificates each day. At the rate of $40 coin-in
equaling one point, that's $10,000 coin-in
yielding a $50 gift certificates. Thus, this
promotion is worth .5%. But keep in mind you will
be redeeming points and therefore giving up .25%
in cashback. As I said, this is FWIW.

As I type this the 9/6 JOB 4-Play Odyssey
machines at the Hard Rock are being
permanently removed. This has been a long time
coming, but it doesn't make it hurt
any less.

And with the loss of the NSUD in the Fender
Room, the Hard Rock is now officially a
VP wasteland.

So instead of going on one of their 6 double point days next month and
getting .5% in free play, I can go on 7/31 and 8/1 and get .5% in gift
certificates to the most expensive mall in the world. Who thinks up these
promotions???

I was thinking that they did not take away points for the Forum Shop certificates. Are you sure they do?

No, not at all. I was just going by the H Rumpole post which stated:

I asked at the slot club desk. They DO NOT take off points for the Forum shop certificates. Therefore the .5% is an added value to the .25% CB. (By the way, these certificates can be used in any Simon Mall - there are many in my former hometown of Indianapolis - you can check on the Internet if there are any near where you live or travel to.)

And mixed news: Yes, the Lucky Draws are still there - but right at the entrance to the center bar. I don't think I would want to play them at 11 p.m. on Friday or Sat. night - unless I had earplugs. Although the eye candy EV might be high!

After 2 P.M., it's hard to play at the Hard Rock because of the
noise level--a boisterous crowd coupled with a rock soundtrack
blasting at enough volume to stun a moose. However, the ancillary
benefits, as you note, are high---stunning cocktail waitresses, who
are nonetheless vastly outnumbered by the throngs of nubile underage
cuties in little black dresses trying to max out Daddy's credit card
before he notices it's missing. You can also observe the interesting
dynamic at the center bar, which purports to be a pickup bar even
though the only possible means of communication there are sign
language, or screaming.

I wonder if this atmosphere is a deliberate creation--how many
people add to the house advantage by splitting fives at BJ, or
throwing away pairs at VP, after their brains have been shorted out?
Let's not forget the excellent and plentiful drinks....a dangerous
place indeed. Positive EV video poker? After a couple of hours in
this joint you won't be able to find the cashout button on your
machine, let alone keep track of penalty cards.

The ideal play is to buy a roll of nickels, select a 6/5 Bonus
machine with a good vantage point, and play single-coin very slowly
while watching all the underdressed jailbait bobble by, absorbing
complimentary libations all the while. An experience not to be
missed, actually---just make sure you have someone to drag you
away/drive you home.

So, is that promo open to anyone, or only if you got the mailer?

I'm not sure. I think you might ask at the slot desk if you can register for it. In fact, I think everyone might need to register first?
