Hard Rock Hollywood Florida

Escaping from the NY ice/snow. Leaving early tomorrow for Florida.

Staying Wed.-Sat. at the HR.

Anyone have any comments..?

Is VPFree2 database still accurate ?

If anyone is going to be there say hello. I'll be the bearded 68 year old wearing green cargo pants.

Thanks,

Larry Feldman

Did a one night stay at HR Hollywood Jan 2014. Outstanding property and amenities.

vpFREE2 inventory seemed accurate at that time. Found much to play. However, be advised that play on their best inventory comes with very meager bounceback (something like $60 offers on $45k est coin-in).

Restaurants are fantastic -- Best meal I enjoyed was at TATU (Asian). Unfortunately, looks likes it's closed for a makeover under another Asian theme.

Pool area is drop dead gorgeous. Hoped to return in warmer weather with Bev (maybe this spring).

Taxi fare from FLL is dear (I recall it being something like $30 plus/ gratuity). You may wish to investigate a pre-reserved shuttle if you aren't renting a car.

The Hard Rock has gone down hill fast since bringing in a
new COO from A/C

Some of the changes are:

They now only have two levels, starter and elite. Elite gets
you nothing. If you do have any points they sweep your
account every night for any charges and you will likely wake
up without any points. Valet parking is now $20 or $25
overnight. Only free for X card. Points are no longer valid
in the food court. All FP VP has been removed from High
Limit. There are still two banks with $1, $2 and $5 FP job,
bp and airport dueces. Property credits have been
eliminated. Discretionary comps are much tougher and only if
you have 0 points. Plum lounge is now X card only with some
weekday exceptions.

it is a beautiful property now run by number crunchers and
egg heads that have tried to make every aspect of the hotel
a profit center. Makes me yearn for the good ole days at
Mohegan and Foxwoods.

Joel and Harry,
Thanks for the feedback.

We will be staying and playing there but basically will be out visiting with friends and family every evening and all day Thursday.
Received two nights comp /$185 FP and took the third night at casino rate because it was less expensive than any decent hotel in the area.
I inquired as to whether two cards( one name) in separate machines at the same time would both register..Was told that if machine shows it registering then it is.
Mary and I played under my name last time( two cards in machines at the same time; Nov. 2013) and received meager offers including this one.

I have noticed a dramatic change in offers and comp over the past two years based upon a once a year visit.

Mary and I will play the dollar Jacks/BP and hope for a royal.

Do you feel that the games are "honest " ?

On the honesty front: Basically I feel good with any game with an IGT faceplate (their lottery variant games are appropriately labelled).

Anecdotally, I skipped out on $45k coin-in with a $100 loss, so things felt imminently "honest" (Probably why my follow up offers were so weak)

Larry,

I do feel that they are honest. I have gotten my fair share
of royals. Enjoy your trip.I'll look for you if I stop down
this weekend.

Everything you say about HR is correct. Up until one and half years ago, for 3+ years, HR was good enough for my wife and I to stop going to Las Vegas where we were RFB at Wynn. We live 30 minutes from the HR and we started to go several times per week. We had great hosts, we were comped rooms or suites whenever we asked, food, alcohol, private club, pet friendly, triple digit free play every week for each of us, and maybe best of all, great seats for the concerts at Hard Rock Live. Many, many gifts, etc.
We played 9-6 Jacks and 8-5 BP at $1/$2. Many Royals. It became the only casino we went to. But, (there's always a but isn't there?) then came management changes. The new director of Casino Marketing came in from the MGM Grand. Sayanarra to the good times. Our "casino divorce" has been final sine October 2013. Too bad.The facilities are great. The rooms are beautiful(ask for a pool view) the steakhouse is first rate, but the VP is mediocre, the hosts hands are tied, all of our old friends have gone.
We, like everyone else, have been through this several times. Caesars, Bellagio, even Wynn.
Someday, I'll tell the story of the bets we had on how long it would take Harrahs to completley screwup CP. Six months was the winning bet. About the amount of time it took to screw up the Hard Rock.
Nothing Lasts Forever.
