HANS "TUNA" LUND (1949-2009)

You may judge in any way that you like. The fact remains that there are specific requirements to be in the VP hall of fame and Mr. Lund does not qualify in any way shape or form.

If you were to start your own version of the VP hall of fame and make the criteria, who are the best players of all time then Mr. Lund would qualify for entry.

As for the published authors, you can't dispute the fact that they have made the game more popular, and have added to the knowledge base of Video Poker. They may have hurt plays for you and other pros, but you fellows are in the minority.

Regards

Albert, with all due respect, I keep score differently than you. I judge by innovation, by execution, and by results. The writers for the most part (excepting Dancer and Scott)are all pretty much amateurs or wannabes.

All the writers have done, just like they did in blackjack in the mid-90s, is just wise up the casino and make things unprofitable for everyone. As someone who can speak with authority, the writers for the most part generally don't know more than they actually know, but know enough to show the casino where they're losing money and what to do about it.

Well, even in the Baseball Hall of Fame, some sportswriters get in...as sportswriters. Some broadcasters, too...but as broadcasters.

I understand what you're saying, but my POV of what should constitute a HoF is radically different than what the site's is.

I'm not opposed to admitting non-players, it's that my HoF would be radically different. I may come up with a list in a couple of days. But Tuna...who was the probably the first VP millionaire, certainly the first NV-based one, and the first who came up with a team play concept and was able to be successful at it with a minimum of shrinkage, it's criminal he's not in there. and unlike a lot of VP pros, who can barely play Jacks and NSUD and that's it, they can't even figure out the value of a play, his overall AP skills were substantial and impressive.

Strictly Slots did an article on the history of video poker several months ago (or maybe a year ago now), about the I think 20 most influential, starting with Si Redd.

Let me put it this way, if I wrote a book detailing what I knew about VP and how to be profitable, it would be a good 20-30 light years ahead of what's out there right now. Excepting Paymar, it would be only 10-15 lol. I've thought about it actually, but too much work for too little money, and I don't need the ego stroke by being published. I may go back to blogging soon, however.

Tuna Lund was a 2008 vpFREE HOF nominee (nominated by the
vpFREE Administrative Committee).

Nominations have been solicited from the vpFREE membership for
a one week period prior to every HOF election. IIRC, all nominations
have emanated from the Administrative Committee and there has
never been a nomination from the general membership during the
solicitation periods.
