GVR

We have stayed at the rio and mirage, but haven't stayed at a
stations casino. The GVR sounds like a good place for vp. How are
the rooms and the food? Is it very far from airport?

Rooms are top of the line. Service is first rate. The buffet is very
good. Trophy's is good and Bullshrimp, although pricy is the best
food I've ever eaten. China spice just opened this past week.
Several of my gambling buddies have eaten there and now going to
make it a twice a week event saying, "it's the best chinese that
they've ever eaten." There's also a sushi bar if you like that sort
of food. Machine selection is still good for the medium to low
roller.

Rooms are more elegant than Rio, but much smaller. They removed 6
25c machines a few months ago, and just eliminated the 50c level on
some multi-denom db's. Really not all that many 25c machines, 5
FPDW, 13 "Optimum Plays" and some db's (I don't know how many db's).
It is however enough, only at the busiest times we cannot get on a
machine.

Found the restaurants to be somewhat pretenious, buffet is nice.
Lots of early 20's kids walking through casino getting loud because
of the bars. Service in general is uneven.

Rooms and food both great at GVR. Do yourself a favor and stay at GVR but drive a few miles east down I-215/Lake Mead Drive and play at the Fiesta Henderson or a few miles more to Monte Lago for great full pay VP.

Stay at Green Valley Ranch ebaker322000. You won't be disappointed.
I stayed at GVR for the first time last Sunday & Monday (June 23-24).
I took them up on the post card I received in the mail for two free
nights and $50 food credit. Beautiful spacious rooms (most
comfortable bed I've ever sleep in), delicious food (great buffet),
and lot's of good vp.

The entire staff at GVR was wonderful. I think they are the most
friendly and attentive in Las Vegas. Every employee I came in contact
with acknowledged me with a warm smile and a "Hello" or "Good
Morning."

The seats at the fpvp "Optimum Play" machines were often full during
the afternoon and early evening hours, but I usually found an open
chair when I wanted one. I was especially lucky on the bank of 100%
machines across from the Dreyers Ice Cream Shop by the Food Court
(got 4 Aces with a kicker twice on Monday).

The only downside to staying at GVR is it's isolation. No other
casinos are within walking distance. Fiesta Henderson is closest (a
$10 taxi ride) but GVR does offer a free shuttle to The Strip and to
the Airport several times a day.

I loved the GVR and will definitely stay there again.

Buffet is very good. We tried the Sunday "brunch" with free flowing
champagne and a really good variety of breakfast and non-breakfast
food. Got blitzed on the champagne before our sober member drove us
to the airport to go home, so couldn't tell you how far. Certainly
further than the Strip though. Gaming was OK. Not the best, but
plenty good in a nice atmosphere.
