GVR is a Joke

If I were a new player that joined vpFree I'd be so confused after all the reading. So many reductions in benefits at this casino, casino chain, or in this or that program; such lousy treatment of players here & there when it comes to comps; and the treatment of vp players overall has taken such a dive. And after reading some of the complaints here, I can't say I disagree with most of them. However, because I've always focused on how to do my best at the machines and accepted whatever came my way in the form of benefits whether accurate or not, it has made for a much more enjoyable experience. It may just be me, but I'm not the type of person who likes to get into disagreements & confrontations with the kind of people who hold the power in casinos.

So we are done with them and lesson learned...

We are done with them...

The ualtimate complaint is no complaint at all. We complain best with our feet. Why paint a nice picture if it's not? Isn't it better for new player to know the facts?

Merry Christmas......Jeep

I thought I would add to this discussion as this is probably the best set of Comps we have received from the various Hotel/casinos for Christmas/New Years going back at least a decade...and we are LOW rollers. She plays Slots and I play VP to the best of my ability after about 15 years of trying to learn optimal play. I'll be honest, I've never calculated coin-in stats, I just know we each take about $1K-$2K to play with under the assumption that we might lose it all and it's just the cost of a vacation, and what we have in our wallets when we leave is a bonus. We also follow a "dark-hole" philosophy I learned from a car-salesman about 40 years ago.....when we hit any jackpots or nice wins, we stuff that money in a separate place in the wallet. Money that hits the "dark-hole" comes home with us no matter what, helping to ensure we bring something home.

Anyway, back to the benefits discussion....we will be arriving in Vegas on the 27th and staying to the 7ths of January, and are only actually paying for 1 night ($25 at Silverton) but even that night they are comp'ing more than the cost with food and play credits. The nicest comp this year was the 3 days at the RIV including room, pre-NYE party with MC Hammer, New Years Eve party, and some food/play credits....all FREE. Comp'ed rooms at Main Street (Slot Tournament) and another video poker tournament with comp'ed rooms/play at Silverton covers the entire 10 days. We also do extensive Internet research on additional benefits, senior days, free activities, and also make extensive use of several Vegas coupon books.

One of the biggest cost savings thing we do is usually start with a hotel that offers a free shuttle from the airport to the hotel, and then pick up our rental car off-airport ( this time at TI ) with the return location AT the airport. With this plan, we are paying $328 for the 10 days vs. $550-$650 for all ON Airport.

Sorry to probably give more information than anyone wanted, but I hope I have added something of value on this Christmas Day.

Be safe my friends, and also be lucky!
Fred, Atlanta
