i just booked a room at Green Valley Ranch for the casino rate of $80.
i plan to play $1 10/7 DB. how much play is needed for me get the room
comped? would 8 hours be enough?

Better to talk in terms of coin-in than hours played. The DataBase
says that a room comp required (in AUG 2004) about $30,000 coin-in
if playing their better games.
I suggest calling a host and trying to get an upfront comp based on
your expected play.
