Ah . . . Freudian typos can create such interesting images.
Typo aside, I semi-agree with the thrust of Mickey's post. Blackjack and
video poker have different skill sets and it's not automatic to assume
that if you're good at one of them you'd be good at the other. My
blackjack technical skills were never above a B or B- level --- and I
certainly never mastered the secrets of longevity at that game. In
recent years, I considered going back and starting over again on that
game but I figured I'd never be given a chance to succeed. My picture
has been published enough places as a "gambling expert" (even at another
game) that likely many casinos would back me off "just to be safe." And,
echoing Mickey's point, this could well affect my video poker longevity
as well. So I didn't even try for a "comeback." Whether or not this
comeback would have been successful will never be known for sure.
Each gambling game requires its own skills, and while there are a few
experts at most or all of the games, I've found that just isn't true for
me. Those who say to themselves, "I could be good at that if I really
tried" may or may not be correct. A lot of potential pitfalls don't
become obvious until you're at least at an intermediate level.
