Gulf Coast Getaway report

Packed up the Suburban with 6 of us for a jaunt to Mississippi
Gulf Coast for a couple of days. Living in central Florida it's a
nice change of pace. Long ride (500 miles) but an easy drive up
I75/I10.
Checked into IP Biloxi with a 2 nights free offer. Nice room on
19th floor with a decent view of Biloxi Back Bay. The room had all
the goodies..flat screen TV, coffee maker, hair dryer, small fridge,
in room safe, desk area. Quite comfy king size bed.
After playing a couple of hours we met at the Back Bay Buffet.
Since I was covering two B days I treated. Big spender. I had a mail
offer for two free meals, used my club card and got 3 more covered so
dinner for 6 came to $21.55. Great food. Good selection, all fresh.
and AUCE snow crab (delish although a little heavy on the Old Bay
seasoning).
Next morning took the 10 min. ride to Isle casino for $5.99
breakfast buffet. When we got to the counter the young lady
says, "Did you know Thursdays are BOGO free for over 50's?". She
said, "Just go to the Player's Club, swipe your card at the Kiosk."
About face..off the the PC. Back in 5 minutes with BOGO coupon.
Breakfast for two, $5.99+tax. Pretty acceptable. Nothing fancy but
fresh and wholesome.
Next a ride to Bay St. Louis to check out Silver Slipper. Took
US90 (lots of construction) and then Beach Blvd in Waveland.
Unbelieveable a) the devastation from Katrina still evident 3 years
later and b) the massive rebuilding efforts underway. The people of
the Gulf Coast are so resilient. God Bless them all. Anyway, SS was a
delightful casino. Plenty of free stuff for signing with the PC. Deck
of cards, T shirt, $5.00 free play, BOGO buffet coupons. 2 of the six
hit the lunch buffet and raved about. No one else was hungry so we
passed.
Returned to Biloxi and got dinner at Isle casino ($11.00 w/AUCE
crab legs and stone crab claws). I eat way too much crab when it's
AUCE. Very good though.
Gambling Gods did not shine brightly enough to give me any RF but
did have a number of 4OAK and hit quad Aces on DDB twice. One word of
caution. While every casino had favorable pay tables you have to
check every machine. Pay table vary within a casino. In fact I saw
9/6DDB and 8/5DDB on machines next to each other.
All in all a nice trip and even with gasoline prices about $60 per
couple for gas vs. $700 airfare to 'Vegas. There's no place
like 'Vegas but right now we'll take what we can get.
Thanks y'all. Got out and hit a Royal.
