I recently saw a bank of progressive slot machines at Main Street
Station with a huge overhead sign that stated something to the effect:
"Progressive Jackpots Guaranteed to hit between $ and $$." Anyone know
how is that possible?
Here is how I think it works:
Let's assume A is the lower (i.e. reset) value and B is the upper bound of
the progressive. Whenever the progressive is hit, the controlling computer
resets the progressive amount, chooses some random value (C) between A and B
as the next point at which the 'progressive' is awarded. The person who
deposits the coin that moves the 'progressive' meter to the value C is
awarded the bonus.
