Guaranteed Play going XVP

At the G2E IGT booth I was given the folder promoting the future of
Guaranteed Play.

"It began with Video Poker. It's coming to table games in January
2008. And it will be available on 5-Reel video slots coming summer
2008."

Blackjack is the first table game involved and starts at $20 for 30
hands of $5. Blackjack going up to $300 for 30 hands of $100. play.
Player gets 30 Play Tokens and a stack of non-cashable Table Chips. You
use 1 Play token for each hand, bet up to the max amount of Table Chips
allowed. At the end of 30 hands any Table Chips you have in EXCESS OF
THE CHIPS YOU STARTED WITH ARE YOUR WINNINGS!

With the max bet and your hand ties the dealer you win a bonus payout
if one or more of your cars EXACTLY MATCHES the dealers cards.

There are 10 different proposed marketing packages for the casino that
incorporate GP Blackjack (30 hands) plus a movie or show or breakfast,
etc.

As others have said GP is purely marketing. BTW the person that gave
me the folder agreed that GP VP was NOT going as well as they had
planned.

One would think that the IGT people would be smart enough to let this
idea quietly fade into the sunset. It's never going to fly, because it
violates the basic idea of gambling, where you bet your money and take
your chances. People are not in the casinos to play arcade games where
you purchase time on the machine and then leave when your time expires.
(Just my opinion of course.)

This entire GP concept sounds like somehing a marketing VP dreamed up,
and is determined to make it succeed despite all evidence to the
contrary.

I was also at thr G2E yesterday and was surprised to see IGT pushing
this concept into other games. The GP BJ bordered on the ridiculous.

I bought $100 in chips for $40, won about 4 out of 5 hands
(including a double down) and asked can I cash out?
Yep, you can cash out ant time you want.
OK, I have $140 in chips.
Great, you won $40.
No, I bought in for $40...so I win 4 out of 5 hands...and break even.

This is going to be a tougher sell then VP!!

I think it was appealing to casinos --
the customer of the game manufacturers. At
least until it bombed. I always smile when I
hear statements from casinos like "those are
entertainment dollars you're putting into our
gaming machines". It more than political
correctness it is a marketing approach.

Well - it isn't going away anytime soon. IGT is
actually in a partnership with another company, Walker
Digital who actually came up with the idea of
Guaranteed Play. Guaranteed Slots and Blackjack are
right around the corner. In fact, Guaranteed Blackjack
is already in existence on cruise ships.

Rep from Walker Digital told me GP blackjack
