GSR Updates

Grand Sierra put in a bank of 4 machines prominently labeled on top something like "Full Pay Video Poker. Over 100% Payback" Small print - no points earned on these games. I checked the paytables and there was indeed FPDW (which I played most of Saturday), DDB, Pick Em, KBJW (4000 coin royal), and many exotic games I don't know the paytables to assess but likely are full pay as well (triple double bonus this that and the other). This must be very new as even this busy holiday weekend when the casino was packed, these 4 machines were always available. Go figure.
The machines are nickle, dime and quarter, single line, and are located near the entrance to the buffet where the locals spend every night lined up for an hour for their $7.77 dinner.
Speaking of meal promos, they also have a very good meal promo in their cafe. Earn 777 points in play that day, swipe your card at a kiosk outside the Cafe Sierra, and get a voucher for a free meal. No points deducted. There is a specific menu you order from, so I was guessing pancakes for breakfast, burger for lunch, and spaghetti dinner. Not so! I had a large platter with a very tasty tri-tip steak dinner with baked potato and veggies. $15.95 on the regular menu. Person near me had a nice looking salmon dinner off the free menu. I was impressed. They didn't try to cheap out on menu items, or for that menu just give a buffet voucher instead. This offer might only be lasting through end of July.
Oh, getting back to the full pay machines, question for the group. As no points accrue, do you put your card in the reader, or stay incognito? I was staying there on a free offer, and didn't want to look like I stiffed them for play, so opted to play those machines with my card inserted, but have reservations as to that being a good idea or not. Getting paranoid that it labels me as an AP. Thoughts?

There is no way of knowing if you will be "punished" for playing the FP machines. I can tell you of my experience with SL and Atlantis. At SL I get a pathetic comp rate of .05% for the most part although it varies from day to day and perhaps hour to hour. I do get free room offers. My host looked into the low comp question and could not get a good answer from whomever. My theory is that I used to play their FPDW progs a few years ago and they are still holding that against me. I have been playing 9/6 DDB for 2-3 years and even play the 9/5 Dream Poker and slots. Even though I play 6-8K per day, my room offer has a coupon for $5 FP! I know of others that play 9/6 DDB and get .3-.4% comps. I don't play much there any more. At Atlantis, I tried to get casino rate and couldn't. I used to play their 10/7 DB with 400 for SF back when I used to play there.

How much do you play per day? I'll be interested to see if you are punished for playing the FP games.

They're not that new. Been in place for at least a few months. You wont see the sharps playing these since they dont earn points.

This has also been in place for a few months so I'd expect this promo to continue to be tied in with their "777" deals they've had for a while.

Well, from what I hear, the machines essentially have a 0 theo so you might as well insert a Harrahs card. You're not going to get labeled as an AP since no AP's are playing these games.

If the Full Pay machines which give no points have a zero theoretical associated with them, then you are better off not putting your card in (if that is the only thing you are playing for the day) since a zero would be averaged into your play. The only way to know the theoretical assigned is by experiment of how it affects your offers which will take several months to determine or if a knowledgeable host will share this information with you however this would definitely give the impression that you are a knowledgeable VP player which is not good.

Off the top of my head, I would not put my card in if you have a decent average there unless you learn otherwise.
