A friend of mine left some money in a video poker machine on Saturday and realized it about 2 minutes later. A frantic search of her purse confirmed the ticket was not stuck in there somewhere. After contacting security and the slot department, we confirmed our suspicion. Her ticket was left in the machine and another ticket for $0.50 was inserted in the same machine a few seconds later, cashed out and then cashed in.
This all happened in about 5 minutes. After Greektown did its investigation and traced the TITO, the slot department had a little meeting and ended up giving my friend about 30% of what she lost in freeplay. I thought that was a fair amount for Greektown to give back. They apologized for silver miners being in their casino but offered that it is very difficult to keep all of them out.
If you ever run into this situation, get the machine number and ticket amount. Go to the High Roller desk ( usually less crowded) and if they can trace the ticket, they can stop payment on it if it hasn't been cashed yet. This will all happen very quickly so get to the booth or a security guard as soon as you can.
