As I was driving up I-75 at 7:00am in the morning heading for
Detroit's casinos, I couldn't help but notice the trail of red lights
going into the city and the trail of white lights leaving the city.
Basically, we were just trading places for awhile until the day is
over and the traffic repeats the routine, but in reverse order.
Arriving at Greektown, or as my friend at work calls
it, "Greedtown," I parked and walked through the block that
separates the garage from the casino. (just follow the arrows)
The first thing I did was to check out the bar. Here they used to
have
some 9/6 Jacks or Better games imbedded in the bartop along with a
few other so-so ones. Now they have all been pulled out and an 8/5 JB
(97.3%) has
replaced them. I didn't see any other VP on this floor.
I walked past a quarter piggy-banking slot machine that had 40
coins in
the bank and decided to go for it. (big spender) I slipped in a
twenty and ten minutes later my credits were gone and that damn pig
still had his bank intact. May he come domn with hamstrings!
Taking the steps two-at-a-time just for the exercise, I head
upstairs. I walk past banks of quarter Multi Game machines that have
lousy games such as 6/5 Bonus (96.8%) and 9/6/4 (96.3%) Double Bonus.
Play these losers at your own risk.
At another bank I found some 9/7/5 DB (99.1%)along with some more
very bad games. So far-so bad.
I saw some nickel vp machines and noticed that they had the 9/7/5
DB game on it,
so I decided to waste a ten spot just for something to do. After
playing for about fifteen minutes, I got two pair with Aces and
dropped the smaller pair and hit the other two Aces for 3200 nickels.
I was so excited that I popped another mint into my mouth and
waited for the hand pay. Woopee!!
Two very nice, friendly floor personal came and paid me. ($160)
Their
names were Anita and Rose and were typical of the employees in this
place. Well trained and friendy. I only wish I could say the same for
their video poker games.
Moving on I found a room with Game Maker machines in them. These
had Pick'Em on them, but it was the Rip Off Pick'Em at 96.7%. Real
Pick'Em pays 99.9%. These also had games such as 6/5 Bonus and 7/5
DDB. More losers. I did find some full pay Pick'Em in the high-roller
room but the only had $2 and $5 ones so I passed.
Making my way into the poker room, I noticed that even at 8:30 on
a Thursday morning, the place had about fifty poker players at the
tables. I guess they were all taking a vacation day off work just
like me. Right?
In this room I spotted a row of Bonus Deuces Wild machines. These
were progressive and the total was up to $2200. I didn't know what
the percentage was but, except for the lousy low-end pay scale, it
looked pretty good to me so I decided to risk a hundred and started
to
play.
As I was playing I kept staring up at the $2200 cash for the Royal,
and the 2000 credits for the four deuces with the Ace, not to mention
the
four Deuces at 1000 credits. While playing I happened to notice a
little sign on the machine that said that "No cash back or comps will
be awarded on these machines." This will be the first and last time
I'll ever play these machines. I think this game has a
percentage of
97.2%, but I could be wrong. I copied down the numbers but somthing
just didn't look right when I got home.
I any of you guys get there write down the pay scale and post it
on this site.
I played on that hundred for about two hours and finally went
broke. Oh well, some times you get the bear, and sometimes...
That's it, I'm heading over to Motor City to play some NSUD.
(Deuces Wild at 99.7%)
I will post some more on my adventure later.
