Over the past 4 months I have had very few winning trips to Greektown Casino either on slot machines or video poker. Upon reading that Gilbert had sold the casino, I wonder if there is any connection. Maybe the previous owner wanted to juice up the casino take to make the property appear to be more profitable or is this just a conspiracy theory on my part. Since the casino sale was announced the crowds seem to be lighter on old folks Wednesdays.
Greektown Losses
Preston,
The most likely reason you are losing at Greektown is that there is very little video poker worth playing. The only decent play is the bonus deuces wild progressive when the meter gets high. Breakeven ( without tax considerations) is about $1600.
All the other video poker at Greektown, you are giving up at least 1%. Doesn’t sound like much but at 600 hands per hour and playing quarters, you are giving up $15/hr. That means if you play for 4 hours and only lose $60, you are actually having a good day.
Slots you will eventually lose all of your money. That is just how slots work.
As for the crowds, I’m surprised Greektown draws anyone at all. They do so many things wrong, it is tough to comprehend. Even the simplest things they manage to mess up. Add to it their delusion that everything they do is right and you have a recipe for disaster. Or 5 owners and 12 management teams in 18 years.
