Greetings,
First off, I want to say that this is not a "gripe" posting. I happen
to be very satisfied player at Greektown. Personally, I am a
recreational player who is trying to spend one night a week playing VP
and Fridays in the poker room there. For myself, Greektown offering
25c 9/6 JoB is a great opportunity to have some worthwhile
entertainment at an acceptable level of house advantage. I am
thankful that Greektown offers games like this rather than just trying
to butcher everybody with 7/5 pay tables like some other locations
around here...
However, there is something that happened to me recently that was a
bit of a nuisance. Overall, it is not something that is a big deal,
but to me this incident made no sense, and it is something I would
want to be informed of if I were running things over there. What
happened to me could potentially alienate a customer of far greater
value to the house than I am.
Basically, the other day, I tried to use the coupon from the 2008
American Casino Guide ($5 in free play for 150 points earned). To be
clear, this is a 2008 coupon and one would think it would be honored
from January 1 through December 31 (2008). However, I was told that I
used the 2007 ACG coupon in September 2007, and that 365 days must
pass before I can use the 2008 ACG coupon. So that coupon is
off-limits to me for over nine months out of the year! Taken to the
extreme, if I had used the 2007 ACG coupon on December 31, 2007, I
would have only one day in all of 2008 to redeem the 2008 ACG coupon
before it expires. To me, that makes no sense. I'm not trying to
pull any angles here, I'm just wondering what difference it makes what
day of the year I use my coupon as long as I use only one per year?
Again, this is really no big whoop as my gaming habits won't change
unless the machines change before I get a chance to use my coupon this
September. But I didn't appreciate being treated like I was trying to
pull a fast one, although I did respect the Club Greektown reps for
being vigilant in protecting the house and their policies.
So I don't want to complain, but I would just like to point out, in
the words of Kevin Meaney, "That's Not Right!!"
