Greektown barring article in Stricly Slots

Well,

It turns out there were actually 2 articles by Anthony Curtis in Strictly Slots. The first one was in January 2003 where he talked about the barrings in his annual "Thoughts" column. In March 2003, he responsed to the flood of mail he received on the January article.

His first point is that Greektown screwed up on the barrings. It was a financial disaster and a public relations nightmare.

The second point that he made is that most of the players probably had themselves to blame for being booted. He talked about greedy players milking a promotion or trying to take every single nickel out of a promotion. I disagreed that I fit that description and gave a few examples to support my claim.

Either way, the Greektown incident was over 4 years ago. Casinos don't particularly like video poker players, especially good ones.

I will look for the January 2003 SS issue with the original article in it. Skip Hughes also wrote about it in the same issue. Skip, do you have a copy?

I probably do, but I don't see a real need to dig it up. I always took a more critical view of casinos than most in CP/SS. Of course I'm not there any more...

Let's get real folks, "Greed is our Creed". The only reason some of us
don't "torch" good VP plays, is that we can't stand to play VP anymore.
"Mind numbing" and "brain damaging" are comments that can accurately
describe what happens to people who spend copious quantities of time
playing VP. And don't forget the physical damage to our bodies, after
sitting, or standing, for many, many hours staring at a VP screen. So,
let's get real.
