At checkout, the check-out person asks if you wish slot play or table games and what venue you wish to play (any of the Harrah's Properties in Las Vegas). I took slot play. You then take that printout to the "cage" at the casino you choose and they give you vouchers.
The woman at the cage at Caesars told me the vouchers do not work in most of the VP machine.

My wife got $800 of Macy's gift cards and a Sony laptop.
She had ~300K ggwu points. 100K from a challenge to Diamond that if you did 100K points they would give a bonus 100K ggwu points. She's not quite sure how she got the rest.
Very happy. We are down over $12K at Harrahs properties this year so this claws-back some. She made a concerted effot to make 7* this year. Lot of Nevada play on the Laughlin FPJB MS. Haven't been back since they no longer off this FP crack-cocaine VP

I don't know what YOU find to play in Laughlin.
They took out all the decent paying games a while ago.
Best now is $5 Bonus poker. Even that is limited.
NOTHING to play in Laughlin, not worth the trip.
They changed the multistrike so that it only pays $1250 for a Royal rather than $4000. Also changed the flush to pay 5 instead of 6.

most of your wife's points may have actually come from that diamond/seven stars challenge. there was quite a discussion about it here a few months ago, with many current high level HET players thinking it was unfair to exclude them.
this was both a progressive and cumulative offer. while it's true she got a 100K bonus for hitting seven stars (100K tier), she also probably got a 10K bonus for hitting diamond (11K tier), and then an additional 15K points for hitting 15K tier.
those who i personally know who were invited to participate in this promo were also given an additional 20K points for hitting 20K tier, an additional 30K for hitting 30K tier, an additional 40K for hitting 40K tier, an additional 50K bonus points for hitting 50K tier, an additional 100K for hitting 65K tier an an additional 125K for hitting a tier score of 80K.
while the specifics of your wife's particular upgrade offer may have been different, and the points provided at each level may have varied, that's the general way the offer worked.
so many, if not most, of her "mystery" points may have come from this offer.
