Grazie Gift point value...

I just did a Google product search on the items shown in the
Venetian/Palazzo Grazie Gift invitation. If those four items are representative of the value
you will receive for your gift points, it seems that each 100,000 points are
worth about $80 - $90. This is based upon the best price available on the
'net for the items shown.

Pretty disappointing. Years ago, Grazie points added as much as .12%
(retail), or more realistically, .08% (best price available). Now, it seems that
they only add about half that, and that's if you are Platinum.

Now I understand why V/P hasn't made a Grazie Gift catalogue available. They
don't want to discourage folks from flying in for the event, only to be
disappointed in the value they will receive for their points.

Last year I played at the Venetian once and had a little over 2000
shopping points. I ordered three items worth maybe about $40.

Is it worth flying in for that? It certainly can be IF you plan it
right.

The best strategy for these shopping events is to STAY ELSEWHERE
because the host property will probably not have any tournaments or
other goodies other than the shopping itself. But since a stay is not
required to shop, you "double up" by staying at another property that
does offer incentives. You then simply taxi or walk over and shop
anyway.

On the other hand, if the Venetian offers you a tournament or
something worthwhile during the Harrahs GGWU or MGM-Mirage Holiday
Gift Shoppe dates, that's a great time to stay there.

So, do as I do. Add up the total potential incentives for your trip
to judge its value. $40 in gifts on its own is not worth your time
and $$$. But add in a tournament, show tickets, meals etc. from
another property and now you have some rethinking to do.
