Good ways to use up points?

HET:
I've decided to use up my points up at the Apple Store in Caesars Forum Shops- I can buy a Discover Network card with my points and put it with my offer Discover Network card and walk away with a iMac, 24".
I've been hording those points for years, ever since the $1 & $2 9/6 days.

You need to do this in person, cannot be done over the phone for your own protection.
I believe the conversation is 100 reward credits for $1, ( please, someone correct me if I'm wrong. )

If your into electronics, those Discover Network cards are great. Last November I bought a big screen TV at
the Sony Style Store in Caesars Forum Shops and they delivered it free within 2 business days !

Stations:
Got lucky, last June they offered me a very limited time frame, short notice, to cash out ( free play, I ran it through once) I was already scheduled to be in town staying elsewhere. I forget the conversion rate, but I walked away with $883, very close to what the offer was for.

I still don't know what to do with the Fiesta & Terribles but either is enough to lose sleep over if they vanish anyway.
If I have time and the points don't vanish, a couple nice steak dinners will polish them off. I love the Steakhouse at
Whisky Pete's the Silver Spur, I just hate the casino's there.

Best Regards,
Lolly

The Total Rewards Discover gift card that can be used throughout the HET system. They take it at many of the Caesars Forums shops stores in addition to restaurants and other HET outlets.

Lolly -- when you BUY one of those cards, isn't the conversion rate 200 to $1 like the other gift cards HET sells through the catalog? That's my problem with using my points that way, you only get half the value than if you used points for restaurant, spa, or other normal hotel charges.

Hey Mare!

You may be right, but I asked them directly and below is the answer I got ( cut & paste. )

Thank you for the opportunity to assist you further. If you would like to use your Total Rewards Credits to purchase a Gift Card this transaction has to be done in person at a Total Rewards Center. This is to ensure your account protection, we want to be able to verify ID to ensure that you are the person redeeming the Rewards Credits and not someone else. In regard to the conversion from Rewards Credits to dollars, we generally say 100 Rewards Credits is $1.

Mare, I'm just trying to burn up points and be done with carrying such a large balance, I have more food around town, more than I can ever use and don't need the clothes or pricy spa treataments.

Lolly, in the correspondence you got from Harrah's above, the key word in the last sentence is "generally." If you use RCs for food and other comps the 100 to $1 usually is the ratio. But in the Total Rewards Catalog their gift cards are listed at 200 RC = $1.

I was confused by your term "Discover Network card." They don't call them that in the catalog but I am assuming that is what they refer to as "Total Rewards Gift Card." Am I right?

Hi Lolly! I don't blame you. It's not looking good for HET (and others) at this point. Wouldn't want to have them devalue the points completely!
