Good ways to use up points?

I've been following the discussion about possible bankruptcy filings
by several large casino chains, which may put points at risk. Since I
don't get to Vegas too often but I do have a trip coming up, I'm
wondering about productive ways in which points might be used, such
as free play or gift cards (no need to spend points on rooms or food,
since those are comp'd directly, and buying stuff in the casino gift
shop doesn't seem very worthwhile to me... although at the end of it
all, perhaps that is the best alternative in some cases?).

Can anyone give me some specific suggestions about productive ways to
use points at these casinos?

a) Harrahs: I think in the past I've read about possible conversions
to gift cards? (But not in Vegas? If so, can the conversion be done
on the web or phone, or do you have to visit a non-Vegas property?)
Any other productive ways to use these points?

b) Fiesta: I think that some points (earned after a certain date?)
can be converted to free play? If so, at what ratio? And if that is
true, what about older points-- what might they be used for, if not
hotel stays or food?

c) Stations: Are the alternatives here identical to the Fiesta
points? Any other possibilities?

Thanks for your help with this.

At one casino, I had to use up my points at once, and there were no gift cards/free play.

I used most of it on the cheapest (but still overpriced) t-shirts in the gift shop.
When I got home, I donated those to a homeless shelter.

Converting points to cheap, overpriced casino t-shirts is a great idea because t-shirts with casino logos are just what homeless people want..

Somehow, I don't think homeless people give a shit what is printed
on the clothing that is keeping them warm. I know that I wouldn't.

For Harrah's the answer is easy, order merchandise from their catalog. Since they have to use your points know before they can comp off the rest of our food, spa's, etc, we use them up ordering for ourselves or gifts for others just before we check out.

To order, you do have to visit a TR desk at a casino.
