But there are, and always have been, just two things that get me to

1) What are my game choices and payback?
2) How am I treated?
Your competition for my play are the numerous California Indian
casinos. Good VP is abundant. Comps and cash back aren't so hot.
This seems like a good point to jump in. Many SoCal casinos offer
multi-line 100+ACU- VP, the professional's choice, but that's it-maybe .1
cb maybe .1 in the mail, and maybe a room offer-if they have a hotel.
Once in a while you get lucky and find a decent promo. Consider
Pechanga, which is just off the 15 on the Riverside-San Diego county
line. If you look hard enough, you will find a single bank (of 3K or
so machines) of +ACQ-1-+ACQ-2-+ACQ-5 9-6 Jacks and NSUD, with 1+ACU- theo. Putting 10K
through won't even get you a room, although they just spent a lot of
money on a billboard campaign thanking the CA voters for passing all
their ballot initiatives last week, so they can make even more money.
This is typical for SoCal, although if you look hard enough you can
find 15-11, JW2, 10-6-40, but, like, why bother.
I found this discussion amusing because the reason so-called "good" VP
is disappearing is because of the increasing amount of information out
there about VP, and the subsequent more skilled players playing. For
that matter, even the "average" player plays a lot better than he/she
used to. When I first started doing this, Winpoker was relatively new.
Now there are several training programs out there, all of which are
pretty good (Paladin recs Winpoker and Wolf VP, FWIW). When you have
more informed players on a machine, holds are going to drop, which
means theo and the subsequent player reinvestment will be reduced.
You guys are competing against each other for the same benefits
package, and none of you want to share. Hey, I'm not big on
competition myself, I know how you feel. Finally, a lot of you don't
seem to understand that to get the money doing this, you have to find
the situations yourself. They're just not going to drive up to your
house. The other thing is that the best plays are usually not at the
nicest casinos (although Wynn seems to be an exception-until you get
cut off).
In closing, although I've said it many a time, forums like VPFree
actually kill good VP long run. While the intent is honorable, there
are quite a few sharks who lurk waiting for opportunities to burn out,
or might know something about the casino's slot club program, you
don't. Casino suits also read VPFree as well. Most people here
probably play at least the Jacks OK. So, you put out a lot of useful
information, it gets used, for better or worse. Class dismissed!
