hell. People VERY tightly packed against each other and no way to get out
or move in any direction. It was very uncomfortable, to say the least.
Small children would have been in a lot of trouble. Somehow I managed to
make it to a recessed entranceway of the Flamingo, where a family was
cowering. The woman was crying and so were a couple of the kids and I
didn't blame them. The Flamingo had their doors locked and the security
guards were simply ignoring people's pleas to be let in
In my prior post I forgot to mention this, DO NOT TAKE SMALL KIDS TO STRIP
OR DOWNTOWN ON NYE!. NYE 2002 we did our Xmas fam reunion in Vegas and my niece
and nephew who at the time were 15 and 12 went to see "O" with their mom and
stepdad. They got out of the show and went out to strip for @1 hour saw
fireworks and then had to fight the crowd for 3 hours to get back to their motor
home at Circus Circus RV park. My family and I had returned to L.A. on 12-29.
When they got home on 1-3 my niece called me and said, "Aunt Liz why didn't
you warn us about the crowd on NYE?" I replied, "I did tell your mom it would
be really crowded be careful and watch for pickpockets and stay near your
hotel." My neice says, "there were so many people we were getting crushed, and
we could not get a cab or get across the street so had to walk to the Rio and
wait for a cab or walk back to C.C., we didn't get back to our RV until
3:30, my mom says seeing "O" on NYE was not worth the hassle." enough
said....these two teens are pretty tough and they couldn't take it.
