This year we booked a room at Bally's with a view of the Flamingo Hilton,
Venetian, Stardust, and Stratosphere -- we had a GREAT view of the fireworks,
and no people squashed up against us.
As we looked around, some other ideas for good places to stand may be: on
Flamingo - either near the Augustus tower of Caesar's (or Bellagio) - after
they close the street -- good view of Paris/Bally's and Flamingo Hilton. Or on
the other side, in front of Bally's or over toward Burbon Street -- should
have the same sort of view we did, but from the ground. We could look down at
that area, and it wasn't crowded.
We also noticed the top of the Flamingo Hilton parking garage was empty, and
should have had a good view.
One area (if it was open) with a good view was probably the new terrace area
at Flamingo and Las Vegas Blvd. at Caesar's. They also have some rest rooms
and a bar (assuming it was all open to the public). A friend said they
stood in front of Caesar's last year, right near the entrance to Caesar's and had
a good view without a crowd.
Does anyone know why people wear those hats with cow horns every year?
