Their website now states that “Video Poker Machines do not earn points.” Previously video poker earned .2% with $2 coin-in = 1 point and 250 points = $1 free play.

I got all my info 2nd hand. My understanding was the good
pay table games arrived a week ago, but then just yesterday (7/18) points could
no longer be earned at VP. I also heard that soon after the games arrived,
professional teams swooped on the FPDW taking most or all the machines. Then
they disbursed recently, I can’t imagine it was the loss of 0.2% cashback or DTG
comps that would have drove them away…

I thought I had read that these good games had already been downgraded. True or false???

Not a huge surprise. lol

There were too many machines for all to be taken by anyone. Every single machine in casino had 25c-$2 FPDW so it is impossible and an exaggeration to even suggest that every machine was taken. Not even 30% full at any one time.

Most people, even FPDW players, at ten bucks a spin single line will lose a grand or 2 and walk away cursing advantage play.

Saw it happen too many times at the Frontier at the dollar FPDW, which were usually empty.

Almost correct…some bar machines did not have FPDW at all.

As of Friday a lot of machines no longer have $2

The chance of finding yourself $2000 behind at some point when playing $1 FPDW is 77%. It might take a while, though–the chance of being $2000 behind in the first 20 hours is “only” 26%.

If you play $2 five-play FPDW, the chance of being $10,000 in the hole at some point is 64%. Even with a $50K bankroll, you’d still have more than a 10% chance of going broke.

When I started playing a lot of VP 25+ years ago it was mostly single line $ FPDW. The local VP pros at that time said you needed a 40K bankroll for that. I’m pretty sure this was just a guess based on experience rather than mathematics. Not a bad guesstimate, it seems.

My wife and I played about 22K hands of single line FPDW without any quad 2’s but 2 RF’s for a net win of 500 bets. Can you say “roller coaster”?

That’s a surprisingly good conservative estimate of bankroll requirement, considering it was 25 years ago. The mathematical solution wasn’t published until about 5 years later.

If you play perfectly, a $40K bankroll will allow you to play $1 single-line FPDW forever with just a 0.54% chance of going broke. If you are human, and say make errors costing you about 0.1% of your bets, then the chance of going broke on a $40K bankroll rises to 1.1%. For comparison, someone attempting that with a $25K bankroll (and making errors costing 1.1% of his/her bets) would have a risk of ruin of 6.1%.

Picture is a little rosier w/ a 0.25% cb add that I suspect was applicable back then …

I have been playing at the Downtown Grand every day since Tuesday. There was never a problem getting on any single line FPDW-plenty of machines available. The two multiline machines were always tied up. The $2 denom started to be removed early Saturday morning and were all gone by 8 AM Saturday. The $1 was still easily available all day Saturday.

True enough, Harry. With 0.25% cb, a $25,000 bankroll would only crash 1.9% of the time, vs 6.1% without the cashback. (I’m still assuming a 0.1% error cost.)
