In my trip report this week on vpFree_Reno, I
mentioned a new style
video poker machine
at the Reno Peppermill I played last weekend. I can
only assume they are new, because I
don't get around much elsewhere. They only have 25c
DDB on them, and the RF is a fast-
meter prog. Eight machines on the periphery of the
new sports bar near the new sports book.
Very pleasant vertical display (not slanted), the
card font is large and squarish - but the
suit takes up a bit too much of the card area, the
card rank a bit too small. The pay table
is above the card display, takes up the whole width,
and lights up made-pays and final
payoffs. For more than an hour session, the display
was a bit too bright and I got eye-
strain, which just means next time I'll wear my
sunglasses. Tight buttons (just a tad too
wide apart), great new hold clicks and made-pay
chimes, volume control (Crank it Up!) and
three speed settings on the touch screen. Also a
large flat area to put your drink(s) and an
ashtray.

They have a hood maybe 18" wide on the sides and
top. Nice wide rubber arm pad and a
large raised rubber footrest area underneath. I
didn't catch the manufacturer, but overall a
comfortable and smart design, I give them 4 1/2
stars out of 5.

Anyhow- try them out next time you are at the
Pepps.

Has anyone seen these new machines anywhere else?
