Golden Nugget (was a tiresome obsession)

While embarrassed to admit it on this forum, the GN is one of my favorites.
This is partially due to my parents calling it their home away from home back
in the Steve Wynn days when there was full pay video poker and you knew
exactly what the comp exchange was, I find it remains a lovely hotel with very good
restaurants and service. The cashback for us out of towners is still very
attractive and I stay there 4 or 5 times a year and usually everything is comped,
except tips.
And, oddly enough, I have done quite well on the VP there, better than on all
the full pay I tirelessly chase in MSS, Sam's, etc.
A word of caution to Don...after my parents retired to Las Vegas (years ago)
and hung at the GN on a daily basis, my Dad did get himself kicked out of the
slot club.....

I agree...love Stephano's and ZAX.

Can you elaborate?

Ok. I'm willing to concede their restaurants are good. In fact even
though my breakfasts are usually comped elsewhere while staying
downtown I don't mind standing in line at the Carson Street Cafe
because their food and service is *that* good. Now if the vp would
only be reflective of that. Like the old saying goes "you can lead a
horse to water, but if you can get it to float on its back then you
got something".
