Golden Nugget-L experience

Harlows- I did the Deuces Wild breakfast special for $1.99. This is one of
the mid-week overnight specials. Coffee cost $1.95. This was my first time
in Harlows. I had a long standing fondness of the previous Jane's Grill and
the servers who got canned by Landry's.

The room is warmer. Nice touch with the linen napkins, sturdy silverware
and an oversized ceramic coffee cup. Service was attentive. Nice not to have
to stand in line to pay.

Another long time food play was at the snack bar. You can't beat a
California Club sandwich for value and taste. They open earlier now too.

VP- the plays have stabilized. The quarter Royalmania Bonus 8/5 was up to
$18k+ for the sequential royal. I also played some Sigma DDJ and had a good
session to overcome the other losses. Cocktail service was fine on the floor.

Promos- they are doing weekday double points through August They are doing
some low level drawings too on weekends.

On Mon-Weds they are doing a slot tourney for $1k. You need qualifying play
of 250 points over the last year. I did not qualify, yet I still was burning
up comped rooms. This is only $6.5k of coin-in on the old floor VP games.

There was a free VP tourney Sun-Thurs through August too. The catch is it
runs midnight to six am only. Another catch is you can't collect until 11pm the
next night. I did it twice. It is 5 minutes/100 hands max on 9/6 Jacks.
There were about 50 players per night. They give away $400 ($250/100/50). The
second try I got in 91 hands. Basically impossible to burn up all the credits
since these games are not that quick. My two quads crushed the field to take
home the bacon...first place score 740 and second 585. This fits my early
rise schedule better than most promos and pairs up nicely with the Harlows food
deals.

Room- still the nicest standard issue room on the river. Towels are still
fluffy. The 27 inch TV has 30+ channels including 4 ESPNs, TBS and WGN. The
floors are bouncy so that could be an issue. The AC was marginal for that meat
cooler effect.

Now that is one of the strangest tournaments I have ever heard of...
midnight to 6 AM?? Are they trying to draw in the late night drunks
around town that have gone through all their money, and are looking for
something to do? Only 5 minutes and 100 hands means that any quad
should put you into a money situation. Two quads vs. 50 drunks? Wow, no
wonder you were king for the day.
