We are out-of-towners. Just got my first GN mailer and I will actually be
in Laughlin to use it:) It is for $15 cash and 2Xpoints. I played for a couple
of hours there in July while staying at Harrah's.

So how far out-of-town? HET fly you in?
The rumor is 100 lifetime points ($5 cashback/$10 comps) will get the GN-L
mailers in motion. So you got the "Cash Daze" postcard and the trifolded glossy
"Insider"? These bounceback postcards have been sent out in the first
quarter for a few years now.
The Insider also has obscure room offers in that yellow blurb above the
calendars. Rumor is the lowest level is a 2 for 1 offer. Then it gets into
"Getaway" points based on some formula that incorporates several months of play
history. One point is good for one weekday night, 2 for weekends and 4 for
special weekends.
Trouble is GN-L does not have much to play anymore except at quarters.
Nothing better than Bonus 7/5 in any of the bartops now. The end of 2003 started
the VP purge at GN-L. You can still see the downgraded machines and can pause
for reflection. The skinny DB uprights that used to be 10/7 (now 9/6/5), the
slant-tops that used to have FPDW (now ugly Colorado Deuces), the Sigma .50/$1
slant-tops with 9/6/5 Double Double Jackpot (now 8/6/5).
Somewhere in this purge the coin-in requirements for a point increased. At
the quarter level it went up to $26.25 (105 count from 95) and at dollars
$27.50 (55 for 2 points instead of 35 for 2).
I don't think GN-L really misses me and other VP players. I had $70k+
coin-in for 2003 and 2004, down to less than $2k in 2007.
Oh well.
