Last year, for my birthday, I got a $10 cashback coupon from the GN.
This year, since I've given 'em even more play, I got only a birthday
card. Things have changed.

****
First, Happy Birthday to zzyzx! Has anyone received any mail from GN-L since
the March/April Insider and April bounceback/promo postcard?

I do remember getting a $10 coupon for birthdays. I also remember getting
like a $20 voucher for the gift shop too.

For birthdays you can't beat the Pioneer. If you play on the floor on your
actual birthday, the card reader will greet you with the proper words. The
boothlings will find you on the floor. Usually a couple of balloons and a a
coffee cup/deck of cards will be tied to them. Also during your birthday month
any decent play over the previous year (say $10k coin-in) will get you comp
#8001. This is a voucher/letter good for the next 13 months. You have a choice
of a couple buffets, or two nights anytime. This voucher is good on weekends
too. Nice to have this one in reserve.

So is Hamstockman going to let his July birthday voucher die in his pile of
marketing offers? He got his first #8001 last July. So what if it is 490
miles from his house to the Pioneer parking lot.

It sure looks that way. However, I expect them to send me another one
for the following year. I think I will have to give up for awhile on
Laughlin. I just have no economical way to get down there. I have
calculated that it is more than $225 in gas alone for the trip (anyone
notice huge gas price increases?). With Reno/Lake Tahoe less than half
the distance for me, I think I will do more of these trips.

Speaking of birthday offers, I got one last week from the RP: Two free
nights in July. Birthday Game- swipe the kiosk and win up to $100 in
free play. $25 in comp account and a free birthday duck. Birthday
duck???

It used to be a birthday goose, but Columbia Sussex has had a lot of
cutbacks lately.

I got one too, beware of that offer the free birthday duck was a total
pain. It was certainly cute, but right after they hand it to you they
tell you you can't keep it in your room. So I went down to put in the
pool overnight and the security said that I can't keep it there
either! They were afraid that it would poop in the pool. So I
smuggled it back into my room and kept it in the bathroom. The
quacking kept waking me up all night long. Next morning I headed out
and stopped at the Ag supply store for some birdfeed. Turns out you
have to buy it in 50lb bags, what a pain it took up a whole car seat.
The duck kept pooping in the car, I had to change the newspaper every
20 mins or so. Finally I was getting sick of the duck so I did the
only responsible thing. I went to the park and handed him to some
little kid. I said here is a pet duck just for you, the kid was
definately enthused.

Mark, Thanks. This is my birthday month too and I almost
fell for the trap. Its so easy to get caught up in the rush to get the
  latest Casino lagniappe. Whew,

Thanks also for the chuckles. Louise in Culver City
