Golden Nugget BJ Tourney/VP Update

I did the seperate Thurs/Friday GNL $10k Tourneys last week. This was a
departure from their historical $250 buy-in $25k Prize fund ones, with rooms/food,
they have done over the years.

This was a $25 entry. bare bones, pair of events. Each started at 9am with
preliminary rounds and Semi-finals at 2pm, Final at 3pm. They had 120 spots
and 60 rebuys, which means they only collected $4.5K, a fine overlay.

One advanced out of a table of six players. Well run. The experienced
dealers handed the dealt face-up double deck game. You got $500 in funny money and
betting was $10-500 for 20 hands. They used large print playing cards too
and did it in their usual VP/Slot tourney area.

The competition overall was fairly low in skill level. I hope they do some
more of these in the near future. My near-miss in the semi-finals got the
blood flowing again for some tourney action. I miss the EW "Elvis Tribute"
tourneys that died over a year ago.

Video Poker- once again the furniture has been re-arranged in the old GN-L.
Off the floor are the .50 and $1 Sigma Double Double Jackots 8/6/5. The
quarter ones remain.

The one $1 Jacks 9/6 slantop is now moved into the bank of assorted
slant-tops that run north to south between the stand alone cashier and the horse book.
All the $1 Bonus 8/5 (5) are in this same bank now. On the other side of the
bank are the (4) quarter Bonus 8/5 slant-tops.

There still are two upright quarter Bonus 8/5 on the south side of the stand
alone cashier in assorted machines. These have not moved recently.

So there are now a dozen red glass and a dozen aqua blue glass slant-top flat
screen spanking new comfortable IGT Game Kings in that row in the mid-casino.
They all have six VP games activated in three denominations (.25, .50, $1).
So what is the best game? Well Bonus 7/5. They might as well have put in a
couple of concrete highway dividers.

What was really cool in the Tarzans Lounge was the two new BJ tables that
face the atrium/foyer. The jungle and waterfalls look great. They even hung a
flat screen right between these two tables in midair. For the NCAA action they
were dealing a shoe game with $5 minimums. I guess there is a party pit on
weekends now.
