Golden Nugget Best Play

Hi vp friends,

I will be staying at the GN, next week, for 5 days. I seek your
informed advice on the best vp games to play, taking the following
facts in to consideration:

1. I will be on a 5 day room comp (arranged in advance with my host)
    with meals to be charged to my room and considered at checkout.

2. I normally play single line .25 to .50 100% ev games. 8-12 hrs/day

3. Having played MILLIONS of hands on BDWP, on most of the following
    games, I play them at 99+ accuracy. The one exception being 9/7DB
    which I have never practiced at all. However, I have more than
    1 Million hands of 10/7DB, and will now change the payoff, and play
    9/7 until I leave for LV.

4. I always play where I stay, if I am being comped, so the GN is
    it.

Best JoB games currently available at the GN, in my "price-range":

    1. 10 play .05 10/7DB
    2. 9/7DB with a large Seq.RF (.25 single line)
    3. 8/5JoB with a double payoff bonus on the selected suit. (.25
       single line)
    4. 9/6JoB (1.00 single line)

Taking into consideration my desire to cover my comp (which does
include Fri/Sat night)and further wishing my bankroll to last as long
as possible, if I don't score a RF, what would be your game of choice
and why?

Is dollar single-line 9/6 JOB available at the Golden Nugget. I
thought it was gone. (To my knowledge, they do have dollar 3/5 play
JOB.)

You are correct, Gary. Thanks for pointing out my error. I was
thinking of the old coin-dropper $1.00 9/6JoB that the GN had for many
years (near the pay phone bank). I haven't stayed at the GN in over
10 years, and didn't see that they were MIA. I also skimmed over the
data base and didn't notice the (3-5 play) next to $1.00 JoB.

Since the possible bankroll risk at 3-5 Play $1.00 denom, is way above
my comfort zone, that eliminates that play from my consideration.

I still await advice on the best of the other plays listed.

Hi Babe,

I'm sorry my notes are incomplete in regard to the GN, but there were 2
quarter Super Times Pay machines in a bank parallel to the one with the
flush bonus machines. Unfortunately I didn't note what the best game was.
It may have been 8/5 bonus. They were closer to the end toward the table
games and on the side closer to the cashier cage. I'm sorry I didn't write
down the paytables, but maybe you can check them out.

Hi Babe. Here is my "if I was in you shoe's" answer. I would split
my time 40% 10 play nickels (10/7 DB) 40% regular 8/5 bonus
and 20% 9/7 DB progressives. I chose these because of your skill
level of 10/7 DB, and the fact that you are proficient at 9/6 JoB.
Bonus poker is not a 100% game, but I find it gives you alot of
playing time, and the strategy is not much different from JoB. I
would think there are alot of changes in strategy from 9/6 JoB to the
suited flush 8/5 jacks game, and you might give up too much EV for
the strategy change. If you do not like Bonus Poker, either add in
that flush game or play more 10 play. I'm not sure what the correct
math based million hand maximum EV answer is, but hopefully someone
will give you that answer. Good luck and get them royals. -Russ

Hi Russ,

Thanks so much for your thoughtful answer. I believe that your
assessment is right on target with what I had tentatively
concluded myself.

BTW, I do enjoy playing 8/5BP and do play it frequently, both in
casinos and on BDWP, so I am 99+ accurate on that game as well. I
enjoy BP because of it's much lower volatility than the other bonus
games, and as a welcome change, from time to time, from DB or DDB.
As you point out,your bankroll lasts longer than at most other bonus
games, yet you still have the possibility of scoring 200 - 400 coins
for bonus quads.

Now that you've pointed out strategy changes that would be required
for playing the " bonus suit" BP game, I realize that I did not take
those changes into consideration before considering adding that game
to my possible plays. Since I can't imagine anyway to change the
BP payoffs on WP, to reflect suit differences. I would be winging it;
always a dangerous adventure!

You've given me a lot to think about, and I thank you again for
taking the time to respond, and for also for your kind RF wishes.

One of my other vp buddys said that he was sending the Executive VP
Goddess, ruler of all randomness, bell (and other) curves, as well
and sovereign ruler of good fortune, to visit me during my sojourn
at the GN. I hope she's flying a lot faster than my UAL jet, and
that she's got a RF payoff in her toga!

Thanks for info on the Super Times Pay BP. If indeed they are
8/5, I might give them a whirl. I've never played super times
pay, but from what everyone writes about the game, it's fun and
exciting.
