Unlike the Plaza, the news I was given about the Gold Spike is
correct. There are no more free rooms. The current offer is $61(total)
for 3 nights Su-Th or $121 for a suite. Once you got on their list by
winning a jackpot (I've been on for 10 years) you were on
indefinately. Since they have no slot club, there was no way that
they could track whether you played there or not. For someone who
only wanted a free room with a good bed and a bathroom, it was a great
deal but nothing lasts forever.
