I happened to play at the Gold Coast on "double cash day" and after losing
a lot of money I cashed out $100 in free play on the machine to continue
playing. When I went to the booth to get the "double cash" I was told I
couldn't get double, because I had already taken the single, and basically you
can only receive double for points you still have in your account.
I complained to higher management, since no rules to this effect were
posted in the big sign about double cashback. It doesn't make a lot of sense,
since if I had played $100 worth of cashback, and I cashed it out at the
machine and lost it (as happened), the amount "owed" would be another $100.
If I had gone to the booth without cashing out, the casino would have given
me $200. Thus the casino would be better off to have me play free play on
the machine.
But they say the "rules are the rules" even though the "rules" aren't
posted. So I didn't get any doubled cashback.
(And possibly if I had earned $100 and taken $1 out, I might not have been
eligible for any doubled cashback because I would have had less than the
full $100 worth of points in my account. I say this because I earned 26000
points, and still had 20000 left in the account, but was given zero in
doubled cash).
The end result is - don't take your cashback at Coast casinos on the
machine.
For that matter, I am now wondering what happens if you get 2X or 3X etc.
points. I'm an Emerald player, getting 3x points. But the machines only
show 1x at the time you are playing. Thus presumably if you take your
points out as free play while playing, you may end up losing the extra triple
points. I don't know.
I'm not sure of all the ins and outs of this policy, but the final upshot
of my experience, when I inadvertently lost my "doubled" cash, is that I am
never going to take free play out of points at the GC again.
A word of warning....
