Going to NYC and considering a side trip to AC
You might want to check with a few Casinos. They run bus trips
almost daily . Pretty good deals , usally some cash back , meal
tickets , maybe a show ticket sometime. I'm sure you could even check
it online. It shouldn't be more than 2 hours one way , I make it in 3
hours from CT and I'm an hour outside of the Tappan Zee Bridge. Clear
traffic , of course. If you drive , use the Garden State Parkway to the
Atlantic City Expressway that will take you right into the Strip. If
you want any info on the casinos , let me know my wife go there a lot
and my brother works at Bally's .

The trip is about 2 1/2 hours. There might be some deals if you go by
bus. Some of the casinos used to offer cash if take a bus to their
casino.
You can get a bus out of the Port Authurity Bus Terminal, and
probably other locations throughout the city.
