Greetings
The term "tilt" in live poker basically means loosing your emotional and
mental cool (becoming upset) primarily because of a hand you got burnt on. Of
course a fellow player at your table can brings on this most unpleasant feeling
by something he says or does to which you take a strong offense.
Depending on the player, the length of this ill effect on your assaulted
senses can vary to a great degree. Some spend the whole session never
completely getting over it....even carrying it with them away fro the table. For
others it is short termed.
Yesterday I was at my usual haunt..TP at AC playing .25 9/6 JOB. I held two
threes and drew three cards..I thought. Well up pops two more threes but the
machine held only one of them and I missed the quads and only scored trips.
First I cursed the mechanical perpetrator, then myself as I mentally
calculated how much my credits would have been enhanced.
It look a while to put that disaster behind me as I courageously played on.
I immediately decreased my speed and made a special effort to hit the
buttons firmly in the center.
The monetary loss is really chump change but the lesson was driven
home..."Speed Kills"
