I am a serious $1 and $2 VP Player in Atlantic City,
but my wife and I are looking into going into Vegas
for our 10th wedding anniversary in August.
Naturally I want the trip to be fully comped. I
figure over the course of a 3 day trip we can easily
give the casino at least $150K in action. We do not
want to stay in a dump, even if it means an extra
$5-10 an hour.
My concerns are these:
1) I have heard that Vegas casinos have different
rules about comping. What happens if I get lucky and
they decide not to comp me? Can they throw me out if
I am giving them a lot of action on something positive
and I get lucky?
2) Also, what if they tell me, "Mr. Royal, you are
playing (FP machine), so we don't really care about
you. I rarely have this problem in A.C. as the hosts
are virtually oblivious.
3) I need a place that has instant cash back. I have
three kids (ages 7 1/2, 5 3/4, and 5 weeks), so I
really do not plan a return trip.
Your help is appreciated. If there is anything else I
should know before my trip clue me in on that as well.
I would prefer private replies. In exchange I will
provide any information about Atlantic City
(privately) to anyone.

I will try and answer your questions....
1. The Casinos in Vegas can legally throw you out and deny you comps. They are very unlikely to do so, unless
in their eyes you are abusing some great promotion, or making a ton of money. This would be highly unlikely in your case;
plus if you got that lucky you would probably be up so much that you really wouldn't be worrying about the comps too much.
2. Again this is a possibility but again extremely unlikely, you may find that they will require a greater amount of play on FP
machines over low paying machines, but your action will still be most welcome in the casino.
3. All Casinos in Vegas that offer cash back will do it on the spot. Bounce back cash is usually only given to locals.
You may, however, receive mailings that offer you additional cash on your next trip, but this can never be counted upon
and would be considered a promotion as opposed to bounce back cash.
I would suggest the following.....
If you play at Casinos in AC that have affiliations in Las Vegas, speak to a Casino Host in AC and see what they can arrange for you .
Resorts International runs the Las Vegas Hilton, and Boyd who runs the Borgata, runs the Stardust (among others) in Vegas, Caesars
falls into the same boat, plus who knows how many others.
At your level of play I would think that all casinos would welcome your play. I would suggest Caesars as a top pick for you.

ย ย ย I like the Orlean's in Vegas. You get instant cash back or comp's. The room's are quite nice and a real bargain if you have to pay. The food is good too.
ย ย ย I dont know what they have in dollar's, because I only play 25 cent's. But we got plenty of comp's playing there 10/7 double bonus.

My husband and I have been to Reno every August, for the past 20
years. The weather in Reno in August is usually between 82 to 92,
with generally low humidity. Tahoe, however, is a different story.
There the weather is usually is the balmy 70's. THe scenery is
glorious. Perhaps you'll be able split your trip between the 2
venues, as we usually do. However, the vp in Tahoe is fairly poor.
Look at the database and see if you feel that it's worth the
sacrifice. For us it is. We genuinely love and appreciate the
scenic wonders of the Tahoe basin. We also always make a detour to
Truckee, a lovely old town, with great shopping/eating opportunties.

IMHO, perfection. Warm, sunny days with a high around 80 degrees,
cooling off rapidly at night to 55 or so. Small chance of afternoon
thundershowers---but I wouldn't be surprised to spend a week there
and never see a cloud in the sky.
It's also a great time to go up to the lake (Tahoe). Weather
patterns are very similar, albeit 5-10 degrees cooler.
You'll love it, especially when you pick up the paper and read that
it hit 117 degrees in Vegas.

I have been going to Reno in August for the last 50 years. Yes, I was
a baby with relatives living in Reno! Generally you will find very
warm afternoons, and a real cool down in the evening. However, I have
seen huge thunderstorms with hail, and snow once. Very rare. Watch
for the Hot August Nights week. Reno is packed and not much fun
unless you are into big crowds and old cars.

Average high 90 (late afternoon) and average low 45 (around 5am) so it
cools off rapidly after sunset. Average rainfall 1/4 inch. This
translates to swimming pool weather in the afternoons and perfect
walking weather in the mornings and evenings. The average rainfall is
half that of Las Vegas so it is very dry. As you might expect there
is a lot of sunshine. Keep in mind that these are averages. It has
been 100 degreee in Reno (while Vegas is 115-118) but will cool off in
the evenings.

Reno in august feels cooler than does Sacramento, Clear Lake or San Jose.
