Give The Silverton A Shot!

I just got back from an 11 day stay in Vegas! Had a VP tournament at Sam's Town where we stayed for three nights. We check out there on July 13th, checked into the Silverton, and didn't leave until July 20th. We were only supposed to stay there only 3-4 nights, but they kept extending our stay.

I went to the front desk to get a late checkout, and the girl looked at PC screen, then looked at me, then looked back at the screen. She told me we weren't scheduled to check out until the next day. I told my GF, and she agreed to stay another night. That kept on happening untilwe FINALLY checked out on Monday. And they still wanted us to stay two more nights.

And by the way, where all these other hotels are cutting back, the Silverton hosts comped EVERYTHING that we charged to our room, including a $2.50 bottle of Aquafina water.

The last day I only played for a while and wanted to rest up for the drive home. I left my GF at one of the machines at the bar and told her to get some cigarettes. The Silverton comps you a pack when you get 1000 points on your card. So she asked the guy for two packs since we both smoke, and had put plenty of points on my card. The guy started giving her some crap about getting two packs at once. Just so happens the slot host came by and was listening to the whole conversation. He told the slot guy that he'd take care of it. He left for a few minutes, and came back with TWO CARTONS!!! My GF's mouth dropped wide open.

We ate at their steakhouse, Twin Creeks, and it was delicious. The dining room is decorated very nicely, and they have a very nice wine cellar. My GF and her sister had the cold water lobster tail, and both said it was the best they ever ate.

Without fail. everytime you passed an employee in the casino or hotel, they always said "Hi" or Good Morning" or whatever. Seems that everyone in the hotel/casino is friendly. And believe it or not, they mostly have caucasian maids doing the rooms.

They've might have cut their payouts a little, but so has everyone else. They have a large variety of games, including many high def VP machines. Matter of fact, their new bar, called the "Flair Bar", has nothing but HD VP, but I wouldn't recommend playing there because of their low payouts on all VP.

At the Mermaid Bar, they have progressive VP, and there is a backup progressive going also, so when the main progressive is hit, it doesn't go back to $1000. When I was there, the main one got hit for almost $2800, and when it reset, it reset for around $1700. Not too long after, that one got hit, and it reset for $1340.

They give out 5X points every Friday for slot play, and 2X points for VP play. Although they didn't have one this month, the always seem to have different free gifts for about 500-1000 points. In recent months, they gave away those glass bulb waterers, and those upside down tomato planters and a sham wow copycat. They even gave away FREE basketballs for March Madness, and you didn't even have to make any points.

The Silverton also has a floor to ceiling aquarium stocked with salt water fish of all varieties. Adjoining the hotel is a Pro Bass Shop which has fish tanks of it's own, except they are fresh water fish like salmon and large mouth bass. They also have waterfalls which spill into a pond loaded with Koi and ducks. You can also use your Silverton points to make purchases at the Pro Bass Shop. You need 1000 points for every $1. In the hotel, you only need 500 points per $1.

I should also mention, that they've been running a 2-1 promotion in their restaurants for months now. From 4-10 pm, you buy one, you get one, and in some cases, they throw in an extra 50% off!!!

And one last thing, they've redone their pool area and added real nice lounge chairs and they are covered with blue towels. They've also added cabanas which can be had for $50 a day or 25,000 player points. But you really get some nice things with the rental. You get a 6 pack of different beverages, muffins, sliders of different varieties, and bunch of other items. Well worth the $50 price.

So if you get the chance, stop by the Silverton and give them a shot!

I why do expect to hear, "..And That's Not All.." after this?

Do you know how many points per day you were accumulating?
I changed my status from out of state to a local and played 100,000 points on their 12th aniversary 12x day and really haven't heard anything back from them yet, but bought Miranda Lambert tickets for this friday.

Why does it matter what ethnic group the maids belong to? Was it really
such a thrill for you not to have to deal with brown people? The horror!

Hey, I would do a double take if?I saw a caucasian maid doing the room also.? In the past decade, I haven't seen anything but Hispanic and black people cleaning rooms, not only in Vegas, but all along in our travels.??I'm sure the caucasian maid does?exist, but admittedly they do not represent the majority.? I can name a resort in St George, UT which has an?entirely?caucasian maid staff.? Why is his statement offensive?? He was merely including an observation.? I?posted a trip report years back about a time we went to Gold Coast and we were just about the only people gambling in the joint who wasn't Asian.? This is a FACT not a racial statement.? However, the moderator at the time would NOT post my report until I eliminated the Asian reference.? Good grief, give me a break.??If it is a?FACT that the maids at Silverton were not caucasian when this particular person posted his trip report, how is this his fault?

It seemed to me like he was celebrating/trumpeting the fact, but perhaps
that was not what he intended, and if so, I apologize.

How does this work? Do you go to the club booth and get a voucher for their gift shop?

Thanks,

Once we had a waiter who made several errors. Each time, he jokingly
blamed his lapses on his being from New York. This seemed like a bad
strategy since two of our party were from New York.

Wow! I saw you take an innocent comment about Pai Gow way out of context, in 2001 on another board. That's 2001! Eights years later, and you're still nitpicking about racial stuff. No wonder racism doesn't ever go away. People like you won't let it. Waaaaay too sensitive, Sun.

Robert's trip report is breathlessly fawning over Silverton. Oh
except for that sentence about caucasian maids, that was just an
observation. haha sure.

Got a link or pointer? I'm (genuinely) interested to see what I said.

The second part of your message, though:

Yeah, it's the fault of over-sensitive PC people like me that racism
still exists. Snort.

Found it (hail Google). You must mean this RGP thread:

http://groups.google.com/group/rec.gambling.poker/browse_frm/thread/bc7bbf2823a6b557/ebdbc31adf59688e#ebdbc31adf59688e

So yeah, I can be overly sensitive at times.

On the other hand, being sensitive to other people's feelings is usually
a good thing, as opposed to going out of your way not to give a shit
about them.

Wow, so if we just stopped calling things racism, racism wouldn't exist?
Why didn't I ever think about that?

How about: if people stopped getting so irritated by what they think is
silly political correctness, there would be no PC.

To be clear, I consider the logic of the second statement just as
ridiculous as the first one.

Anyway, I can't believe we haven't already been banished to FREEvpFREE,
so I'm done with this thread now...
