How nice of them.
But some gift cards don't expire (like Walmart and Target), right?
Not so fast.
"Under a related bill dealing with all types of unclaimed property,
the value of gift certificates that have no expiration date that go
unused for three years from the date of issue also would be given to
the state."
So the state is forcing expiration so they can take the money.
Thieving bastards.
Remember, the cards are bought by the casino here in NV, so even if
you live in a state that doesn't allow gift cards to expire, you may
find the balance suddenly gone.
