The gist of it is that if you want to maximize your trip averages (always a
good idea!), refrain from letting casinos know you were there on days you don't
plan on playing at all. Such innocuous things as inserting your card to see
your point balance, getting a comp (from the slot club, a kiosk, or a host),
using a coupon, cashing bounce back, or signing the guest book in a VIP lounge
can trigger a zero play "trip," and ruin your average. Doing these things
doesn't cause a "trip" at all properties, but better safe than sorry until you
learn the specifics.
Here is a tidbit. At the LVH, your host has access to your open PPE comp
account, just as the slot club does. You might be tempted to ask your host to
print a comp for you, just to avoid the line at the club. Don't do this, unless
you were playing there that day anyway! ANY comp (open account, or
discretionary) written by your host at the LVH DOES trigger a trip! If you go to the slot
club and get the (open account) comp, no trip is triggered!
