In this case, that's how it happened.
Many casinos increase the breakage rate on comps by placing restrictions
which limit the comps to just the cardholder & one other person. This is common
for the Strip & many trip-average casinos. However, some casinos will let you
use your comps for guests without requiring your presence. They are probably
bending some rules but this is more common in the Reno-Tahoe casinos which I
have been able to do a few times. Usually make the request after a lot of
play. One casino, the Hyatt Regency, in Incline Village allows you to make
reservations in your guest's name & to have it taken off your comp account.
Once I was able to obtain tickets for Blue Man Group using my MRG comps &
was able to have pick up in another party's name. I won't detail the involved
procedure but I offer this as an example that it's possible. I don't think I
will do this again.
