Georgian Slots Area Expanding
June 13, 2008
The Barrie Examiner has reported that Georgian Downs in Innisfil, ON
is expanding its gaming area to house an additional 550 slot machines.
According to the report, workers removed a great deal of asphalt from
the parking lot this week relating to the expansion.
A total of $75 million is being put towards the expansion. Great
Canadian Gaming, owners of Georgian Downs, are putting $30 million
toward the project, while slots-area operators Ontario Lottery and
Gaming Corporation are investing $45 million.
Chris Roberts, Georgian's director of Operations, stated that the
outside of the building will look very similar to what it does now.
"The new front entrance will look almost the same but it will be moved
closer to the road [Sideroad 5]," said Roberts.
Roberts also added that construction is expected to be finished by the
summer of 2009.
