Why did casinos switch from silver dollars to tokens? There must

be a

cost associated with producing casino tokens where US currency does

not

I don't know what the history is but one benefit is that it frees up
hundreds of thousands of dollars that would otherwise be rotating in
inventory. In Illinois and, I believe, Indiana all machines by law
are token machines.
