Gaming Expo cancelled
SFuchs asked why the Gaming Expo was cancelled.
The primary reason was that by the Monday prior to the Expo, only 6
tickets had been sold. Two of our speakers were flying in from 1,000
miles or more away and we felt it was unfair to ask them to do this for
such a measly turnout. Yes we know there would have been a certain
number of day-of-event sales, but the very poor advance sales spelled
"disaster." So the plug was pulled.
There were numerous people trying to drum up interest in the Expo,
including Jean and Scot from this forum, but it didn't turning into
pre-registration.
There was significant soul-searching and finger-pointing afterwards
trying to assess "what went wrong?" Me repeating that here would serve
no useful purpose. Somewhere it was said that success has 100 parents
and failure is an orphan. The expo was an orphan.
