Gaming errors I have benefited from.

Dont laugh

  1. in70s or 80s, mechanical reel slot. Caesars nickel slot with progressive. then machine would spit coins when hitting. Ever hit gave one extra coin. Hit 2 coins on a cherry and get 3. Hit 10 get 11 etc. For 2 or 3 days I played. On vacation & had to eat on be a vacationer too. One other person noticed the little flaw. I get off & he be there. I go back & play after he done. The nickel jackpot was about $800 if memory right. So time to eat. Went Holiday Inn buffet. Couldn’t wait to get back… Jackpot gone & reset. That was before VP.

I have more on modern games. But I don’t have time now.

More benefits.

  1. frontier (going back again) 4kd sevens bonus about 1200+ , a signer $1 bar top. Someone hit. Progressive never reset. I hit 7s shortly after. House had to think about it a while. Then paid me.

  2. In Taj Mahal AC , found a single machine that gave 10 points every time should have got 1 point. Not a big find but CB was was good then. Lasted about 3 weeks.

  3. Taj Mahal again. Long ago. Coin in coin out. $5 VP . While playing I dropped a $1 coin in by accident. Machine coined up. $1 again. So I played. Made nice profit. Problem was payouts then were in coin. No validators. Once the hopper was out of $5 coins Dollars started coming out.

  4. Some of $5 coin slots would jam a lot. If you tipped good for jackpots the attendants would spot player

2 or 3 coins when unjamming coin slot. I know, it sounds petty. Coins in fast would tend to cause slot to jam. Doesn’t seem like a lot, but 10 coin jams in long session net $100 -$150.

  1. Colorado Belle , Laughlin Nv. Not benefit but interesting. Playing $1 progressive. Jackpot close to

$10,000. Bartender saying it stops at 10. But, kept running right past 10. It climbed to $10,400 or so.

Suddenly it leapt back to ten thousand. The locals went wild. A few went to management to complain.

Soon after complaining the progressive was reset to like $10,550 or so. That was different. I played

till progressive went off. I passed on using my tickets to Kenny Rogers. I didn’t hit the progressive.

  1. I carry a small jotter note book wallet size. I keep credit cards, ID, playing notes etc.

When playing I keep $500 in book as emergency $$. In Taj Mahal AC I lost book, money $ all. Talking

to host, I asked how do I collect signer money with no ID if I hit. . She said, "If u hit, have them call me.

I’ll identify you. " Didn’t hit. However, my host gave me a $500 cash comp to replace my loss. I was

very surprised and pleased. Taj Mahal AC was always good to me, I miss the joint.

No big deals , but always nice to get a little spiff from the house.

Many years ago before I understood anything about VP odds I ran into a wonderful set of machines on a Carnival Cruise. It was the week after the Inaugural cruise so all the machines were brand new. I tried playing some kind of Bonus Poker Progressive machine and I couldn’t figure out why I was winning so much! Lots of four of a kinds and they were all progressives. The four machines were quarters but the progressives started at $250 and Aces was $600. Later figured out they should have started at $62.50 and $150. Machines had to run quarters through to pay you out and all of the casino employees knew my name soon! I kept my husband busy running buckets of quarters to the cage.

Another man was in there every hour the casino was open and I can tell now that he had figured out their error…but he wasn’t getting quite as many 4OAKs as I was. (But he still did pretty good!) Later I took the notes I had made about the wins with me on our trip to Vegas and figured out they had set the machines incorrectly. I wonder how long they kept those machines set at those odds? We carried over $10,000 in cash off that ship

I never liked ‘Dbl-Dbl-Bonus’ until I found these new (at the time) GameMaker (Bally) machines in a linked bank, with Prog on all 4Ks and the RF. It was a 9/5 game, and for .25, too risky for me.

One day , I went back to check (local Indian casino Sycuan) and the denom was changed to .05c (yes .25c bet!), but progs were reset as : basic (5-Kings 4k) : $25, (2-4s), $40, (Aces) $80, (2-4s with kicker) $80, Aces with (2-4 kicker) $200, and RF $600. You can check the math, it was about 121% or so at base reset!

A few weeks in, (I hit the last RF $600+), the RF was downgraded to “$250” reset value, but 4k meters still the same. During a 4 month run, there were even a months’ worth of 4K bonus coupons ($2 value), but you collected them every time you hit 4K, cashable in $10 increments. Needless to say, I got to know MOST of the change persons, who began to regularly hang out near that bank (a few $$ tip was worth it to have quick service on the 4K coupon checks, like MSS scratchers, the 4Ks had to be ‘verified’ by a change person)…

One estimate gave about $20-25/hourly return rate!

I was a ‘pro’ vp’er - if only for a few months time…lol!

The only other error I can recall was when Viejas had these old (Reno- vp/stand alone ) 6/5 prog.
J/B game with only 20-1 (100 coin) payout on 4k. Very low at 95% or worse.

One day (they were .25 / 1.25 max bet for prog RF), I checked, and they were similarly chg’d in denom from quarter to .05c (.25 c max bet req’d for the RF!). RF reset was $1000 vs $200 and when I hit it ($1013 or somesuch), it was closed down for ‘maintenance’. From that day onward, it was $250 reset and unplayable!

I was fortunate, as I discovered it when casino was still ‘new’ (i.e - not crowded), and it was a Friday evening after work, only had $60 on me to play with, but hit enough 4ks, FHs, etc to play until I was down to my last $5 of $60, when I held 3cd RF and filled the royal…

Ah- the memories… Sycuan’s play was better, lasted longer.
