Gambling and VP in Monaco

I'm going to Nice on a business trip and will be about 30 minutes from Monaco. I was thinking of swinging into the casino in Monte Carlo and possibly Casino Ruhl in Nice. Has anyone gambled, VP in particular, in either of these locations? If so, what were your experiences? Taxed on winnings, Full Pay machines, dress codes, anything else? Thanks in advance.

There's supposed to be some 9-6 Jacks in Monaco with decent cb or
promos which make the game break even. Monaco gaming winnings should
be tax free. I know of a 10-coin E2 99.92 JW2 machine near Paris, but
taxes are something like 10% -E1500 non refundable. For example, you
make quints on that game, you'd pay E50 in taxes.

You might as well check out the Carlton and Croissette in Cannes, 30
min away, as well.

Do drop me a line and let me know what you find. I don't expect you to
find anything profitable, but I imagine there is breakeven stuff
there. As they say in Tokyo, dozo yoroshiku onegai shimasu.

I only played "small-time"...no tax situation that I encountered.

No full pay machines...not even close.

Be neat and clean.

You have to "pay" to get into parts of the Royal Casino at MC.

The last time I was there several years ago, they had a "machine room" open for the
tourists at the Monte Carlo Casino that offered nothing memorable. They charged an
entrance fee and had a dress code (jackets for men) for the table game rooms. However
that might have changed since. You might like to check out the website at:

Hi Spyder,

Believe it or not, this was discussed about 18 months ago, on the
board. I guess we really have posted on every VP subject under the
sun!

If you pull up messages #35274 & #35278, you can read the opinions
expressed about Nice/Monaco Casinos.

There was really no worthwhile VP to play any time that I was
there. I have been there many times (visiting relatives) and have
always checked out the casinos.

The beautiful main Casino de Monte Carlo, is well worth the
admission charged. It is a gorgeous building filled with many works
of art and beautiful people. Upstairs is high stakes roulette and
BJ. Tie and Jacket required. There was no VP at all the last time I
was there. Just a slot room, downstairs (which does not have an
admission charge.)

Across the street from this casino, is another casino, that does
have some VP, with mediocre, at best pay schedules. It can be a fun
diversion, if you limit the francs you are willing to risk.

I'm not at all sure that the VP (or slots) are random, or that there
is a casino commission (similiar to the one in NV & NJ) that insures
a fair shake for players.

There is a decent restaurant attached to this casino, where you can
have a light lunch for the equivilant of $15.00 per person. It is
also a great place for people watching.

Believe me, there is plenty to see and do in Monaco and Nice w/o VP!

Have a pleasant journey.
