Right now it's only a bit of a nuisance and I'm just deleting
the messages in hopes they will eventually die out. But if it
continues for very long I'll probably complain to Google.

I would say it will continue until you remove yourself from the mailing list
using Google's procedure. After you do that, I'd suggest you complain to
Google since our names were harvested and used by the manager of that group
without our permission.

someone harvested our names from another Google group
(VPFree) and put us onto this group without our permission.

VpFREE is a Yahoo Group, while Gamblersprofit is
a Google Group. Entirely different animals.

I was one of the first to write Tom about this problem. I see you
all were experiencing the same thing that I was.

So much for our e mail address being not shown in Yahoo!

DWK

PS Karen will be interested in what Google tells you.

Yahoo! really has nothing to do with email address gleaning. They are
already protecting your email address from non-members of the group by
hiding it from public view in the message archive. When you send an
email to the group email address, your email address is shown. Yahoo!
is not "showing" your email address to people so that they can glean it
from a website somewhere. The person was simply a member of this group
and saw your email address when you sent a message to the group.

Easiest thing is to click, "This is spam" button and the issue is
settled.

But it does not stop them from coming. One must unsubscribe as
pointed out in other posts
