I spent part of the summer, 2002, roaming around Michigan playing
the bonus slots. I was reading the Detroit Free Press one day and
caught an article on a little old lady that sued Detroit Motor City
Casino and won.

She came in on a day trip bus and played the slots for a few hours.
Then she got up and walked down the row of slot machines. She spied
a nickel token in a tray and picked it up. At this point she was
immediately surrounded by security. She was detained, taken in the
back and grilled, then made to wait outside for several hours for
her group. It was January and she was in her early seventies.

"You can't treat me like this", she said. "I'm gonna sue all of
you." And she did.

The article said the judgement was for something like $700,000 or
$800,000. Detroit Motor City executives said they were thinking
about appealing. Much ado about a nickel token.

That little old lady finally got herself a big jackpot.

The incident happened 8/7/01. Not quite January. I seem to recall
the real concern was the woman had to wait outside in the heat and
had to fend off the local characters.

And as far as being "immediately surrounded", that is not what has
been reported. My speculation is a couple of hens got in a little
tussle and neither would budge. By default, security wins.

Your take is completely different from what I read.
Also, she won the lawsuit which means security lost. I specifically
remember the article mentioning "slot cruising" which is what they
call "credit hunting" in the midwest.
