I received a call from Wynn this morning. They are not happy with both
the team play and even more disturbed by the numerous angry customers
who come in, can't get a seat, and complain. They also don't like
having people hog the machines for up to 32 hours (where play is almost
exclusively on 25c/50c/$1 FPDW--it's not all on dollars) and leave only
when a family member or other friend/relative arrives. They will not
create a commotion-type atmosphere, nor will they put in any more FPDW
since they don't like the negative attention they attract in a luxury
property. They admit they weren't prepared for such inundation from a
small-margin game--even though I told them about it. I was asked for an
alternative suggestion, and I said if you remove FPDW, put in the
99.96% game. He reacted favorably to that and I think it might happen.
The other games will stay. I told him if he decides to do that to call
Gaming Today and let them know so the article could be updated for
tomorrow.

I don't play the game and it doesn't matter to me. I was simply trying
to get positive games into the place. If greedy people mess it up
they're only hurting themselves first, then all the locals and visitors
who wanted to play it. Personally I don't see the love affair with that
game. I also can't sit at a machine for 3 hours, let alone 10 or more.
So if they do pull them, no one should ever complain again about why
there is so few of them around town. It's tough enough to get a casino
like Wynn to accept smaller margin when it has no need to do so. But
you can't expect them to allow dollar vp players to possibly disrupt an
atmosphere created for the high roller.

Just removing the dollars would probably have solved the problem.

That makes more sense. Just put a couple of banks of regular
everyday .25 deuces. The pros will go - the locals will come and all
will be well..& chances are Wynn's people will not be telling .25
players that they are no longer welcome to play; if or when they hit
a royal.

Excellent observation -- that I hope will find it's way to Wynn mgt.

I can tell you that Bev and I, as rec players, would find it an
exciting play to mix in with other higher denom play.

Well, Rob.
As gratefull as we all are for the Wynn $FPDW, It's not difficult
to have predicted the feeding frenzy that took place or the casinos
reaction for that matter. The downshot of all of this,of course, is
that now lower and middle casino management are sour on "Team" play.
If there ever was a chance for one of those progressives in there to
get up, now "advantage players" have to deal with those same employees
that currently see organized playing in a whole new light. Was this so
difficult to see coming? Did proffessional players shot themselves in
the foot regarding future Wynn play? Who's at fault? Maybe someone
shouldn't have lobbied so hard for the FPDW after all! Food for
thought. NurseSteve

"Hog the machine"

Well put. Just like pigs. I saw some of these so-called pros. They
look like they bought their clothes from Target. Is that the best
those guys can do? Are they putting every dollar in their bankroll,
and sacrificing quality fo life to push buttons on a machine for
hours on end? All for the mighty percentage, which is what, 0.08%
over 10 million hands?

My suggestion is that if they are so intelligent, try doing
something productive for a day.

At $40/hour you think they could look nicer. LOL. bl. --- In vpFREE@yahoogroups.com, "Charles" <fromthevault@y...> wrote:

If they are really having problems with the $FPDW, then making it
available only in quarters would eliminate machine hog/team play,
making it only as good as several other Las Vegas options. If they are
really interested in creating an excellent vp inventory, I would
suggest keeping 100% and just under games (NSUD, DB, DDB, SAB etc.) at
highigher denominations. It would eliminate their little crowd control
problem and still leave them with the best vp inventory on the Strip.

In light of this "thread", may I suggest another solution for solving the Wynn's
FPDW "problem:

Establish a "dress code". <grin>

Some casinos in France have a dress code and a cover charge.

And absolutely horrible VP. at least in Cannes, Nice, and Monte Carlo (going from west to
east....LOL).

I only experienced a "cover charge" at the main casino in Monte Carlo.

He was deducting the "quality of life" loss factor ...

I don't think that forcing them wearing a dress  will stop them from
this great opportunity. Hell if I had a bankroll, you wouldn't get me
off of the $ AA at Harrah's Prairie band no matter what you force me
to wear.

PS: can I still wear my Utilikilt?

Good, he's not talking about me then. I was wearing my "I'M A SANTA FE STATION WINNER" t-shirt.

Dipy, you're welcome to sit next to me in your Utilikilt as long as
you can tolerate my VP Unitard (worn only on special occasions, or
when the EV is over 107%) I'm hoping to win a biggie and have my pic
on the wall at a Station casino near you.

I have been offline for about a day and so I missed several thousand notes here, but I'd like respond to this.

If the WYNN folks REALLY didn't expect this to happen, then they are rank incompetents or worse. I for one find it very hard to believe that in 2005, anyone who is a slot director at a major casino in Las Vegas, would be ignorant enough to not expect EXACTLY what happened (every knowledgeable player here expected it). But then how else to explain that (apparently) they actually took video poker advice from Rob singer?

Nevertheless, if Rob actually managed to get them to upgrade a bit of their video poker inventory and keep it (and I'm not sure of the likely lifespan of the remaing games), he gets my appreciation. I played 10/7 and the whatchacallit ducks there today (we went to collect our bounceback free play), and had lots of fun. That buffet is great!

well it would be great if singer used his immense influence at wynn to
get the fpdw back at the 0.25 level and just eliminate the 1.00
level...
